Darien Lencl lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. Concrete disquiets him, but he dwells with cities none-the-less. He is sad to leave the mountains and forests when the camping is done, but happy to be home when the rubber of tires touches the pavement of a driveway. He has featured at the several Bay Area poetry shows, as well as the prestigious “Passages on the Lake” show. He has been a teacher in Oakland for over 20 years, and has been performing poetry in Oakland since 2000.
Darien has been writing poetry for 25 years. He tries to mitigate life’s abundance with moderation, but ends up being more apt with, “if a little is good, then a lot is better.” As he has gotten older, he has realized that this is unfolding folly. For, much in the world tries to communicate that less is more. That being said, he still prefers three friends to two, and where Ice cream is concerned, an extra scoop.
